Frequently asked questions
This page collects the questions we get about the rebuild. General questions about the game itself are answered in more depth on our sister site Karos Online; here we answer "what is happening on this server".
Settings can change during the beta. Everything that changes is posted in the announcement channel and this page is updated with it. If your question is missing, the Discord question channel is the fastest route, and the bug channel is the place for technical reports.
Will there be a reset at launch?
Beta applications are open. Test access and launch information will be announced on Discord.
What exactly does "remastered" change?
Not the core of the game, but the broken parts: an eight-language interface, tiered enhancement, the soul stone and rune merging flow, dungeon and guild fixes, and a rewritten damage calculation. The list of what we did not touch matters just as much: Azmara, the maps, the five Karos classes, castle siege and mine war are untouched. New content sits last in the queue.
Is the game free?
Yes, playing is free. Nothing is sold during the beta and applying costs nothing. No sales line opens during the beta either: no shop, no bundles, no costume or enhancement material on sale. Download Karos, create an account and help us gather measurements.
When does login open?
Beta applications are open. Test access and launch information will be announced on Discord.
Which languages are supported?
Turkish, English, German, Spanish, French, Polish, Portuguese and Russian — all on the same server. You can switch language on the site and in the game. Translation went past the menus: quest text, item names and system messages were reworked into the same eight languages. If you find a translation fault, the address on Rules is where to report it.
How does my account reach the game server?
The account you create when applying is transferred to the game server at launch. Because the password is stored in the game's own secure format, you log in with the same password. Your password is not stored in plain text; it is kept in the game's own verification format. Not even the team can read it, so a lost password is reset through support rather than recovered.
What is done about cheating?
EAC-based protection is active and enforcement is graded: warning, temporary restriction, permanent closure. Automatic detections enter a review queue and are checked by a human. No enforcement decision rests on a single automatic detection. Every case that enters the queue is read by a person and can be appealed, and all the tiers are written out on Rules.
Can balance change during the beta?
Yes, that is the purpose of a beta. Damage, rates and event settings may change based on measurements, and every change is announced. Apart from the one-time reset at launch your progress is left alone. We do not tune balance without measurement: damage and rate changes follow actual play records. When something changes, the reason is announced too, so there is a record of what moved and why.
Is this an official server?
No, it is an independent private server project with no affiliation to the official publisher. The official history is covered on History in Turkey. Being an independent Karos Online private server means exactly this: no licence is claimed, we continue no official release, and the marks named belong to their owners. The regional table is on Versions.
What does Discord confirmation give me?
Double weight in the draw and a surprise box at launch. It is optional; the steps are on How to Play. Confirmation takes one command and does not change your place in the queue. If you would rather not link Discord, your application stands as it is; you only give up the draw weight and the box.
Will my computer handle it?
Roughly 4 GB of RAM, a DirectX 9 class graphics card and a couple of GB of free space will do. Karos is an older title and stays smooth on modest machines. The server-side work did not raise the client's requirements. Fixes such as the LOD cache actually lowered the load, and the bottleneck usually turns out to be connection stability rather than the graphics card.
What data is kept about me?
Your username, e-mail, language preference, IP address and, once you confirm, your Discord identity. Purpose and retention are set out on Rules. In-game records are kept only for cheat review and fault tracing. They are not used for advertising and not sold, and a deletion request can be sent through the support address.
